The Yankton County Emergency Management Office, and other local emergency services, will be conducting a Full-Scale Exercise in Yankton on Sept. 22. This exercise will take place in two separate locations in Yankton. Starting time will be 9 a.m. The public and media are welcome to observe this Exercise starting at 10 a.m.-1 p.m. that day.
The public and media will be asked to arrive at the check-in area at 807 Capitol St. starting at 9:30 a.m. Parking is available on the empty lot on the corner of Douglas and 8th Streets, which is south of the railroad tracks. Look for the parking signs. Please use caution when crossing Douglas Street. Check-in will be in the north building along the parking lot, which will be plainly marked. You will need your driver’s license or state issued ID, and will be issued an accountability card for your safety.
Once you are checked in, a public information officer will instruct you where to go and give tours of the events going on that day. The public information officer will also be able to help explain what you are seeing and to answer any general questions you have regarding this year’s exercise.
If you have questions or want more information, contact the Office of Emergency Management at 605-668-5289.
