Travel + Leisure pointed out the one thing most San Antonians probably wish tourists would realize: “There’s a lot more to San Antonio than the Alamo and Riverwalk [sic].”

Yes, world, San Antonio doesn’t only consist of a river and centuries-old missions.

In an article that ran Monday, the magazine called San Antonio “the Food Destination You Didn’t Know You Needed to Visit” and listed off dozens of places for people to go beyond San Antonio’s two most recognizable landmarks.

The article’s author, Meena Thiruvengadam, raves about the urban Pearl development. Thiruvengadam is a former staff reporter for the Express-News.

Newly revitalized, the Pearl is an iconic piece of San Antonio that hosts festivals and farmer’s markets throughout the year and is home to San Antonio’s first food hall.

Thiruvengadam also goes on to praise San Antonio’s vast collection of Tex-Mex restaurants, including some that rethink traditional Mexican fare, like Chef Johnny Hernandez’s Burgerteca.
