September date for Fairview 150 Mosaic Mural paint

Mark your calendars for September 14 and 15, the new dates for painting the Fairview 150 Mosaic Mural.

“The Mosaic Mural artists have graciously offered an extension to Fairview so that we can complete signing up artists and sponsors for the mural,” says mural organizer Marion Taylor. “Phil Alain is impressed with what has been accomplished in such a short period of time, as far as painters and sponsorship and would like to see us included in the project.”

“The artists really want to include Fairview in their Canada-wide painting project and book, and because it is difficult to gather people together during the holiday months, we are fortunate that they are willing to delay to September,” says Taylor.

“This new date gives plenty of time for more people to sign up and time for the artists to come up with the concept for the mural. Because of our tight lead time we heard from lots of people, including art teacher from local schools, that they were not available on such short notice.”

The next step for the organizers will be to collect the funds committed so far and pay the deposit for the mural. Once the deposit is paid, the artists can begin making the unique Fairview conceptual design.

Anyone who committed to sponsor a tile, or a number of tiles, can deliver the funds or mail them to Fairview Fine Arts Centre, cheques should be made payable to Fairview Fine Arts Society. The address of the Fairview Fine Arts Centre is Box 116, Fairview, AB T0H 1L0, and the centre is open from noon to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Please note on cheques that the funds are for the Fairview 150 Mosaic Mural.

Delaying the painting will give the mural committee time to organize a Facebook page. Through the page, people will be able to book a time in the September schedule to do their one-hour painting session. The page will also keep people up to date on the mural progress.
